TORONTO - Canada's main stock index edged higher in late-morning trading, helped by strength in the technology sector, while U.S. stock markets also rose.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 18.18 points at 25,653.91.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 252.36 points at 44,957.89. The S&P 500 index was up 24.27 points at 6,074.15, while the Nasdaq composite was up 174.84 points at 19,655.75.
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø dollar traded for 71.05 cents US compared with 71.14 cents US on Tuesday.
The January crude oil contract was down 18 cents at US$69.76 per barrel and the January natural gas contract was down six cents at US$2.99 per mmBTU.
The February gold contract was up US$10.40 at US$2,678.30 an ounce and the March copper contract was down less than a penny at US$4.20 a pound.
