HALIFAX - Rescue teams have recovered a fisher who went missing after an 18-metre vessel capsized near Halifax on Thursday.
Lt.-Cmdr. Len Hickey of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says the fisher was unresponsive and was being flown today by a Cormorant helicopter to hospital in Halifax.
Three other fishers were taken to hospital after they were picked up by the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Coast Guard vessel Hare Bay on Thursday in high swells and low visibility.
Hickey says two fishers were conscious and one was unconscious, although he did not have an update on their condition.
He says rescue efforts were launched after an emergency beacon was picked up around 10 p.m. Thursday originating about 18 kilometres southeast of Sambro, N.S.
Along with the Hare Bay, the coast guard vessel Sir William Alexander was initially dispatched to the scene along with a Cormorant helicopter and a Hercules plane.
